About my town Skadovsk.

There was time, when I did not know about the existence of this town, but then it has become native for me.

Skadovsk is located in the South of Kherson region of Ukraine,  It is the center of the Skadovsky area, as well as a part of  resort zone of the Black sea coast of Ukraine, which includes Khorly, Azure, Iron Port. The  foundation of  Skadovsk dates  1894, it is by historical standards quite young. According to one version there used to be a Turkic settlement Ali-Agok Originally it was planned like a port and from here  to Europe grain, wool and other products must be sent. But gradually it began to acquire the features of the resort.
The town was created under the guidance of the landowner Sergei Baltazarovich Skadovsky, on his lands on the coast of Dzharylgach Bay

A characteristic feature of today Skadovsk is, that it is perfectly suitable for children's recreation and health improvement. A large number of sunny days per year and a small depth of the Bay causes to its fast warming. A myriad of minerals presents in water, ,thanks to them it has healing properties, which are important for the health of children. In Skadovsk there are many medical institutions, where in  summer a lot of pupil, parents with  children have a rest.

The population of our town is approximately twenty thousand people, but in summer this number increases many times. Citizens are actively engaged in reception and service of tourists, offer visitors to stay either in the apartments, houses, numerous hotels and boarding houses.
All the streets in Skadovsk are parallel to the sea or lead to it. Most of them are straight and broad. Though the area of Skadovsk is not large, its width  is one and a half kilometers, and its length is 4.5 kilometers, public transport and taxi work actively. Like many southern cities, Skadovsk is full of green spaces, in the gardens and along the roads there are lots of flowers and fruit trees. In  summer  throughout the town and especially on the Waterfront  many entertainment venues, restaurants and café work, attracting people with music, working day and night
At a distance of eight kilometers from Skadovsk is another interesting place  -  the island Dzharylgach, it inhabits a variety of animals: wild boars, deers and mouflons there grow prairie grass. The island beckons many people because of its pristine beauty. Lighthouses on the Eastern tip of the island, catching crabs and shrimp, picking shellfish on the spit and mussels in the gulf is something that is remembered for a long time and because of all these facts visitors want  to come here back again and again. In the Bay you can often watch dolphins games. Thanks to the excellent sandy beaches and the cleanest air, Dzharylgach has long and rightfully won the fame of the beloved places of rest of citizens and guests of our town.

To get to Skadovsk, you need  to come to Kherson by train, and then, by bus or car to our hospitable town..
